2016 Wesley Forum
April 12 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
Every year, Wesley Forum invites unique and interesting people to share their insights into how Wesleyan theology contributes to a vibrant, intelligent, and authentic faith. We are honored to welcome Dr. Justo L. González to present at our 2016 Wesley Forum. His lectures will be built around the topic:
Can Christianity’s past be a roadmap for a hopeful future?
Dr. González, a native of Cuba, has served as a professor of historical theology at the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico and at Candler School of Theology. He was instrumental in the founding of the Asociación par la Educación Teológica Hispana (AETH), the Hispanic Summer Program (HSP), and the Hispanic Theological Initiative (HTI). Jointly, these programs seek to strengthen the Latino leadership in all churches at all levels of education and training. An ordained United Methodist minister, he has also published over a hundred and twenty books, mostly in the field of history, but also on theology and Scripture. His books have been translated into some eight languages. The best known are the two-volumes The Story of Christianity. He received his PhD from Yale and holds seven honorary doctorates. In 2014, the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) granted him its biennial Distinguished Service Award.
The 2016 Wesley Forum is Sponsored by Boehm’s Chapel Society.
