Introducing Kairos University

Walking Boldly into the Future – Introducing Kairos University

Evangelical Seminary is excited to be included as a legacy partner in the launch of Kairos University, a first-of-its-kind global network with students from thirty countries spread out across six continents. Kairos University will create fresh expressions of affordable, accessible, relevant, and faithful theological education, and Evangelical is thrilled to be a part of this mission along with Sioux Falls Seminary (South Dakota), Taylor Seminary (Edmonton, Alberta), Houston Graduate School of Theology (Texas), and BLI School of Ministry (Pennsylvania).

The vision for Kairos University came to life in 2014 when the Kairos Project was first introduced. In spring 2020, we had the opportunity to become a legacy partner in Kairos and collaborate with other like-minded schools to leverage Kairos to offer affordable, accessible, relevant, and faithful theological education around the world. The launch of Kairos University is the next step in that vision. We are excited to walk boldly into the future with our partners.

Kairos University views theological education as a system of interconnected and interdependent parts. Through its global network, nearly 50 different partner organizations are working together to steward followers of Jesus who flourish in their vocations for the sake of the world.

As a global network of theological education, Kairos University provides a unique opportunity for students to enroll from anywhere in the world. Students deepen their roots in their local contexts by working with mentors and crafting an educational journey that encourages face-to-face interaction in their communities. In addition to being accessible from anywhere, the educational experience provided by Kairos University is intimate and personal. All around the world, students, mentors, professors, and partners within Kairos University are seeing God move in exciting ways every day.

Over the next few months as we boldly step into the future, more exciting developments will be shared. To learn more about this venture or ask questions, please email Greg Henson ( or Tony Blair (

Answers to anticipated questions:

Will my program change?

Classic Evangelical Seminary students who complete their degree program requirements in the 2021-2022 academic year will not experience any changes to their program. Those unable to finish by June 30, 2022 will be able to complete a comparable program by working with a Kairos advisor. Coursework will continue to include learning experiences offered by faculty of Evangelical Seminary.

Will my diploma change?

Evangelical Seminary will award diplomas for students finishing in the 2021-2022 academic year. Evangelical students who finish after June, 2022, will receive an official transcript and diploma from Kairos University; if requested, Evangelical Seminary can be added to the diploma alongside Kairos University. In most cases, the name of the degree awarded will stay the same. In instances where equivalent programs at Kairos University and Evangelical have different names, the Kairos University program name will appear on transcripts and diplomas.

Will the cost change?

Tuition for classic students will remain the same through June 30, 2022.  Students who finish after this date will qualify for one of Kairos University’s low monthly tuition plans throughout the remainder of their studies.

Will our convictions change?

No. As a legacy partner of Kairos University, the heritage, history, and convictions of Evangelical Seminary will continue to be upheld. The launch of Kairos University is an opportunity to further expand the mission of Evangelical by participating in an acclaimed and accredited institution with a global reach and a visionary plan to do even better the good things that Evangelical already does.
