Accreditation and Student Achievement Criteria
The Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Evangelical Theological Seminary is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, 112 South Alfred Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314, Tel. No. (703) 838-9808.
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) is the national accrediting agency for marriage and family therapy education and training. COAMFT is also officially recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), which is a non-governmental organization that recognizes accrediting bodies and works to foster and facilitate the role of accrediting bodies in promoting and insuring the quality and diversity of American postsecondary education.
The Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) requires that, as an accredited COAMFTE program, we publish the Student Achievement Criteria (SAC) on our website. To view the SAC, please visit the COAMFTE Student Achievement Criteria page.
Currently in the state of Pennsylvania there are only five (5) academic institutions that have COAMFTE accredited MFT programs: three (3) in Philadelphia, one (1) in Pittsburg, and Evangelical, along with two (2) places that grant post-degree programs, all in Philadelphia. Astonishingly, Evangelical is now the only faith-based COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Program on the whole Eastern coast!
